A Manifesto for Good Work

We often get so caught up with notions of objectivity and detachment, that we miss the fact that design is far from neutral. Subjectivity and biases inform our work and worldview, and more importantly, there are implications of what we do on culture, the environment, public perception, and production and consumption.

We propose an alternative model of design practices, which goes beyond looking at design as problem-solving and the designer as expert, and deploys notions of co-design, participatory design, placing the designer in the role of an intermediary and a facilitator as opposed to the director/controller.

We see good design- not just as aesthetic, formal, and functional refinement, but also as a holistic process with next to no negative implications on society, environment, and culture.
